Publishing the same draft across five channels ignores why people opened each one. Assign each channel a reader state first, then adapt one verified product argument to match what that reader knows, wants, and will do next.
In April 1970, carbon dioxide was rising aboard Apollo 13. The command module carried square lithium hydroxide canisters, while the lunar module used round openings. The crew had filters, but the parts did not fit the system keeping them alive.
Engineers in Houston had to design an adapter from materials already aboard the spacecraft. Astronauts then built the improvised device from instructions sent by Mission Control. The underlying job stayed constant: move air through a filter. The interface changed.
That is the distribution problem facing a solo founder at 9:07 on Sunday night. The product facts are ready. Five publishing slots are waiting. Copying one post into every box feels efficient, but each channel presents a different interface between the same product and a reader in a different state.
Start with the reader’s state, not the channel’s character limit
A channel strategy becomes useful when it describes what the reader is doing at the moment of contact.
Someone opening Google with a specific problem has declared intent. Someone scrolling LinkedIn between meetings may recognize the problem but has not decided to solve it. A developer reading DEV.to will often inspect the mechanism. A newsletter subscriber already granted recurring attention. A YouTube viewer may need to see the workflow before believing it works.
These differences should change the draft before formatting begins.

The technical article explains how product context constrains generation. The newsletter shares the five-state exercise. The video shows one strategy becoming several channel-specific outputs.
Keep one product truth beneath all five drafts
Adapting to reader state does not permit the product promise to drift.
If unattended publishing depends on a connected provider, available permissions, configured schedules, approval rules, and plan limits, those conditions remain true everywhere. A short post cannot quietly turn an opt-in workflow into universal autonomy. A video caption cannot convert a supported capability into a guaranteed result.
This is where founders often create five versions of the product by accident. One channel promises strategy. Another promises growth. A third implies unlimited publishing. By Monday, the distribution plan contains contradictions that the product cannot resolve.
Use one approved claim set as the common filter. Define the target market, positioning, brand voice, competitors, offers, and channel strategy once. Then let the reader state determine the example, depth, opening, and next step.

Give each channel one next mental step
The best adaptation often changes the next thought rather than the core message.

This keeps one piece from trying to educate, provoke, prove, demonstrate, and convert at the same time. It also gives analytics a cleaner signal. A technical article can be judged by qualified reading and follow-through. A short social post can be judged by whether the right people stop, respond, or visit. The metrics do not need to pretend every channel performs the same job.
